Logo Tag Brush

Image
This project was completed using Adobe Photoshop. I took the logo I had created previously and created a tag brush out of it. This idea was a very fun one to see through. It allowed me much more freedom in my logo design than I had before. It also changed the aesthetic and feel of the logo. Whereas before the simple lines and precise construction gave a very minimalist and clean look, the added textures and color creates a much more creative and inviting feel. While I love the new look I created using this particular logo, I feel that these textures take away from the original design in some aspects. The gradients and clean lines from the original logo are lost in the color, multiple layers, and layered textures. I feel that this technique would be better suited for a simpler design. I plan on refining my personal logo, experimenting with existing designs I have previously created, and using the tag brush technique to my advantage. This project has definitely pushed me to incorporate

Carbon Footprint Propaganda Poster

Image
Est Time: 4 hours Environmental issues have always been important to me and figured it would be a perfect topic for my propaganda poster. I chose to speak specifically towards our carbon footprint. This message is conveyed not only in the slogan on the hat, but also with the background image. The "power plants" are meant to be similar in shape to bottles to represent the objects produced in power plants combined with the physical plants themselves as both aspects contribute to our carbon footprint. The smoke coming out of each bottle also serves to speak towards our harmful impacts on the earth. I wanted to add a bit of humor into the poster as well which is evident in the slogan. I find that, for myself, when topics are more lighthearted or broken up with humor, I pay more attention to it and am more willing to listen and take action. I chose to go with an analogous color scheme, mainly for aesthetic purposes. I played around with my background colors first, trying to fi

Adobe Illustrator Logo Design

Image
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logos pictured above. I began this project with mood boards. I don't typically use mood boards for projects, personal or otherwise, so this was a bit of a change for me and was somewhat difficult to get a hang of. In the end, I think it did help me focus my sketches a bit more than usual. My sketches consisted of various designs and brainstorms. I knew I wanted to have some kind of nod to digital media and film/animation which is where I came up with the text box design and simplified old film camera. Ultimately the design I went with was one that I have been wanting to try for a while. The final logo consists of each letter from my last name (BAKER) put together into a minimalist, modern design. I chose to add the rectangles behind the main design for added design elements and to allow for a pop of color in the colorized version. I feel that this design speaks to who I am, not only because my last name is quite literally the logo itself, bu

Calligram

Estimated Time: 4 hours      Pictured above are my letter to myself, reference image, and final project, respectively. I first started with my letter to my future self with some notes and thoughts on where I would like to be in 10 years. This was a free write in which I let my thoughts flood down onto the paper. Upon completion, I used these final thoughts and ideas to influence the final design. I chose to outline my words in the form of an elephant because of what these animals represent. In many cultures, elephants represent good fortune, wisdom, and protection. I found these qualities to work with the ideas I wrote to myself.     The elephant itself was constructed using the pen tool for the outline and Type on Path tool for the words. The trunk is composed with a combination of the Type on Path tool, convert to outline, and editing points. There are some altered text elements at the bottom, meant to represent grass, using a combinatio
